Foundation Safeguarding Governor

I am a mother of 2 grown up children who believes passionately in education.
 I have worked in Children’s Services for the past 30 years, mostly in Doncaster.
 My current role is Assistant Director for Hallam Caring Services for the Diocese of Hallam. This involves managing the safeguarding team as well as all the social workers and counsellors that work within our Catholic Schools
I feel privileged to work as a governor within OLMC school with such an excellent staff team who care deeply for all their children.

I have been honoured to sit in the ranks of governors for several years. I am the mother of two wonderful daughters who have attended and are still attending Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. For six years I worked in local schools as an EAL Language Assistant and the knowledge and experience gained helped me to be involved in the development of our children. Healthy eating and physical activity are closest to my heart and I am happy to share my knowledge on this level.

have 4 young children. The oldest has moved on from OLMC and the youngest is yet to start. I have therefore been able to see the school go from strength to strength over the years as a parent and as a governor. I believe every child should have the opportunity to reach their potential whatever that may be, preferably within a caring, kind and nurturing environment where every child matters. I believe OLMC is such a school and am very happy to be part of the team that supports it. I am an active member of our local community, involved with various volunteering roles. I love spending time with my family especially outdoors.

I’m an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in primary care working within Doncaster for over 18 years. I’m a mum to two little boys, one of whom attends OLMC. I feel very privileged and honoured to be part of the governors’ team. Our school is extremely special and I feel it’s important to help, make decisions and support the staff and Head Teacher. I’m passionate about education and providing the very best for our future generation. I enjoy reading, running, and I’m currently doing my Masters in Advanced Practice.

Dr Mary Darcy
Parent Governor

I am a working mother with three children, the two eldest of whom attend Our Lady of Mount Carmel School where I was also a pupil. Not surprisingly I feel a real connection with the school.

It is a real privilege to be a member of the team of Governors, supporting the School to provide the best possible education and experience for our children so they are able to fulfil their potential. I myself am a GP in Doncaster and hope this experience is of benefit in this important role. In my spare time I love being outdoors with my family , seeing friends and watching live music.

I am a Theatre Nurse Practitioner working for the NHS for the past 18yrs.
Having had my educational and professional qualifications in missionary schools, I have always valued the personal and educational growth in students. When I see the positive attitudes shared, I feel proud and glad that my son is a pupil of OLMC.

It is my privilege to be a part of the team, where I could have a parental viewpoint to support the school which will help to provide the best education for our children.

I love spending my spare time with my family and love travelling.

Nina Kent
Foundation Governor

I am an online teacher of both children and adults but my main experience has been teaching in primary schools as a classroom based teacher as well as a leader in the some of the core subjects. The last 15 years has seen me teach in a range of schools in London, Sheffield and Doncaster. This wealth of experience has allowed me to know and value the work of the governing body. I want to be able to share my knowledge, skills, experience and ideas to this wonderful school. My son started at Mount Carmel in the last few weeks of Year 1 and from that moment on he has loved it and has blossomed into a caring, young man. I know how special Mount Carmel is and I want the rest of the community and Doncaster to see it too (if they don’t already).
