Curriculum

At Our Lady of Mount Carmel we believe in a curriculum that underpins and promotes the school’s culture and aims, this stems from our Mission Statement: ‘We seek to promote a happy, stimulating and caring environment in which each person is valued as an individual with unique talents. The curriculum and activities of the school are carefully framed so that each pupil may fulfil his or her potential and know success. Each will grow in awareness of his or her role within the family, the school and society and be sustained by a deepening relationship with God’.

To find out more about the curriculum go to our class pages.

For our Phonics, we use ‘Song of Sounds‘.

For our Reading Scheme we use a combination of ‘Big Cat‘ and ‘Oxford Reading Tree

This Mental Health Awareness Week is all about celebrating our communities and how they support our mental health. 💜

For many of us, community is found in online spaces, where we connect with others over hobbies and interests, shared identities and experiences. 📱💻

But not all communities are good for us. And sometimes, online communities can do more harm than good, particularly for young people.

During the week, we’ll be championing positive communities, while raising awareness of the risks of harmful spaces – particularly online. On Wednesday, we’ll be taking our campaign to parliament, where we’ll call on the government for urgent reform to better protect young people’s mental health in online spaces through regulations and education.
